The University of Prešov Strengthens International Cooperation with the University of Tirana

The University of Prešov continues to advance its internationalization strategy by establishing new partnerships with the University of Tirana (Universiteti i Tiranës), one of Albania’s leading higher education institutions.

From 15 to 19 June, a delegation of the University of Prešov consisting of Vice-Rector for International Relations and External Affairs Mária Kardis, Bursar Mária Nováková, and Chair of the Academic Senate Helena Galdunová visited the University of Tirana within the framework of an Erasmus+ International Credit Mobility (ICM) project.

The visit included a series of bilateral meetings with the university leadership as well as representatives of individual faculties and institutes. At the institutional level, the delegation met with Prof. Dr. Anila Paparisto, Vice-Rector for Research and Scientific Affairs at the University of Tirana. Discussions focused on establishing a framework for future cooperation and exploring possibilities for formalizing the partnership through an inter-institutional agreement between the two universities.

At the faculty level, the delegation held talks with Prof. Dr. Aljula Jubani, representative of the Institute of European Studies, where more concrete opportunities for academic collaboration between the respective departments and institutes were discussed.

During the meetings, both sides expressed a strong commitment to developing long-term cooperation. Discussions focused on several key areas, including:

  • establishing institutional cooperation between the University of Prešov and the University of Tirana,
  • developing joint research and scientific projects,
  • promoting academic mobility of students and staff through the Erasmus+ programme,
  • organizing guest lectures and expert talks,
  • co-hosting international conferences and academic events,
  • preparing joint scientific publications and research outputs.

The visit represents an important step in expanding the University of Prešov’s international network and creating new opportunities for students, researchers, and academic staff.
