The aim of the assurance and evaluation of the Internal Quality System (IQS) of the University of Presov is to support the development of the university, namely in the European concept of the quality of the university education (ESG 2015), Standards of the Slovak Accreditation Agency for Higher Education and scientific, research, development, innovation or other creative activities that support the development of individuals and their preparation for life in the current globalized society. IQS supports academic staff and researchers, their development and cooperation with students in the academic environment and the preparation of graduates who can find a job on the international labour market, work with the latest knowledge, preserve, spread, and further pass on the present results.

Quality means the fulfilment of the university standards placed on its activities in accordance with its mission and goals. Ensuring the IQS means systematic and structured care for the quality of education, scientific, research, development, innovative, creative and other related activities, its maintenance and improvement. Evaluating the IQS means the verification of the degree of fulfilment of goals and compliance with standards by carrying out activities that are predetermined for the university. 

Ensuring and evaluating the IQS is based on the definition of the mission and goals of the university stated in it the Statute of the Board for the Internal Quality Assurance System of the University of Presov and concept of the university development formulated in a long-term plan, strategies for the development of science and research, education, internationalization, environmental sustainability and other artistic or creative activities of the university. Ensuring and evaluating the IQS continuously responds to the current initiatives of the academic community and to initiatives from other bodies of the university, permanent advisory bodies of the Rector, faculty bodies and other parts of the university. The university also cooperates with other universities and other scientific institutions, public administration bodies, assessors of the Board for the IQS of the University of Presov and other relevant authorities. Ensuring and evaluating the IQS is based on verified qualitative and quantitative data, is always placed in the context and consists of the critical assessment of the findings. Ensuring and evaluating the IQS is carried out according to the fields of study, scientific fields and areas of education carried out at the university, its faculties and other workplaces. The rules, procedures and criteria of assurance and evaluation of the IQS are published and regularly updated in the public part of the university webpage.
