doc. Mgr. Ján Kalajtzidis, PhD.

Associate professor for discipline 2.1.5 Ethics 

 Received his Doc. (docent / readership) in 2018 and PhD. in Ethics at the Institute of philosophy and ethics (Faculty of Arts), University of Presov in Presov (2008-2011). Currently holds the position of an associate professor and has been teaching the following courses: Business ethics, Introduction to applied ethics, Professional ethics and Contemporary ethical theories. Apart from these, he alternates on these courses: Benedictus de Spinoza – Ethics, George Edward Moore – Ethics, John Stuart Mill – Bentham, Utilitarianism, Teodor Münz – Letters to philosophers. He specializes in Business ethics (with focus on financial sector) and consequentialism. 

 Kalajtzidis was a co-investigator in international grant: Ethical Monitoring of Public Institutions in Eastern Slovakia and national grants: History of ethical thoughts in Slovakia (Dejiny etického myslenia na Slovensku 16. − 20. storočie) and Current state of arts and the future perspectives of Professional ethics in Slovakia (Stav a perspektívy profesijnej etiky na Slovensku). Currently is co-investigator and investigator in 3 different grants.  

He is author of a monography:

2012 − Ethics of social consequences and business ethics with focus on financial sector (Etika sociálnych dôsledkov a hospodárska etika so zameraním na finančný sektor)

2016 – Business ethics as a topic in ethical education (Hospodárska etika ako predmet etickej výchovy)  

Also, he is a co-author of the following publications: 

2011 – Values in ethics of social consequences (Hodnoty v etike sociálnych dôsledkov)Ethical and moral aspects of public (self-) administration in Eastern Slovakia 2010 (Verejná správa na východnom Slovensku v roku 2010 – etické a morálne otázky)

2010 − Ethics of public (self-) administration in Eastern Slovakia 2009 (Etika verejnej správy na východnom Slovensku v roku 2009) and many other studies and academic papers. He is an author of more than 75 published papers, books, chapters, and scientific reviews.

Completed research and study internships at Inter University Centre Dubrovnik (2011), in Centre of Applied Ethics Linköping University in Sweden (2009) and commercial bank Vozrozhdenie in Russia (2006). 

 He was a national coordinator for Youth forum of European university students and has been actively participating at various conferences in Slovakia and abroad (Belgium, Italy, Croatia, Poland or Czech Republic).
