The Institute of History of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Presov represents one of the best historical workplaces of Slovak universities and a workplace with more than 60 years of tradition. It belongs to the founding departments of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Presov. The Institute has an excellent and high-quality team of university lecturers and historians. We can speak about its numerous qualities, of which we can choose at least some: high quality of provided education, linking of theory with practice, cooperation with competent institutions and diverse international cooperation, modern equipment of premises and classrooms and University Library with a rich library collection. Both the University and the Institute offer suitable conditions for individual development and growth. The city of Prešov itself is one of the most beautiful cities in Slovakia and provides a wide range of leisure activities (various cultural institutions, quality restaurant services, good infrastructure). We have many successful graduates working according to their profiles in various fields of education, scientific, social, public, cultural and political life, as well as in state and public administration bodies, local government and in the media.

Currently the Institute of History consists of four departments:

• Department of the Oldest, Medieval and Early Modern History
• Department of Modern and the Most Modern General History
• Department of Modern and the Most Modern Slovak History
