The role of the institute is to provide undergraduate education for teaching students in the field of their pedagogical-psychological training at the university. The mission of the Institute is working with other departments to develop universities offer humanitarian education in such a way as to increase the possibility of teaching graduates to assert themselves in the labour market.
The institute implements bachelor, master and doctoral study programs. It also provides lifelong education for teachers in the field of their further pedagogical and psychological education. He also participates in forms of non-teaching study in which a psychological and pedagogical component of training is required. Moreover, the institute organizes the pedagogical practice for students of teacher training programs.
The scientific and research activities of the institute focus mainly on the education of children, youth, teachers and other pedagogical staff. The results of the research are applied in the educational process in the preparation of students of teaching and in the study fields of pedagogy. The research of the Department of Andragogy is focused on developing the theoretical foundations of andragogy and applying its results in the teaching process and social practice (andragogy theory, social contexts of adult education, employment policy, theory and methodology of influencing the quality of life of the unemployed, Roma, social and health disabled and dependent individuals and groups, theory and history of culture and mass media communication, humanization of education and training, issues of human development, professionalization in the field of adult education).
