Why study German at the Institute of German Studies in Prešov?
Dear future students of German Studies,
If your steps on the road to knowledge lead you to the decision to study at our institute, you can look forward to classes filled with knowledge about the culture, history and literature of German-speaking countries, as well as lectures and seminars in the fields of linguistics, literary studies, and the theory and practice of translation and interpreting. In addition to renowned local experts, you will also be taught by foreign lecturers from Germany and Austria, who will be happy to assist you in the selection of summer language courses, semester scholarships, or other student mobilities carried out within the framework of very good contacts with, for example, the German universities of Jena, Tübingen, Trier, Wuppertal, or the Austrian University of Graz or the Swiss University of Fribourg.
It's up to you whether you are attracted by study programmes focused on teaching or rather on translation and interpreting. We offer them in combination with many other subjects that are studied at our faculty or as part of inter-faculty studies. Your decision also depends on which of the above-mentioned fields you would like to pursue after successfully completing your Master's degree. You can even apply for a third university degree - a PhD.
