RUNNING PROJECTS

1/ VEGA and KEGA (National scientific schemes)

2/ COST SCHEME (International)
Action: CA22149

Members: prof. Kopčáková, doc. Kvokačka, doc. Migašová are involved in the international COST project:

European Network for Interdisciplinary Studies of Embedded Practices of Deliberation: from the Past to Present and Future

The main aim of the Action is to systematize, conceptualize and epistemically upgrade theoretical and empirical knowledge about the influence of past practices of deliberation on contemporary decision-making. With this emphasis, the Action is placed at the very heart of the topical debates about the potential role of deliberative democracy in stabilizing the social and political spheres and in coping with modern challenges; concerning, in particular, the consequences of the climate crisis. This Action will thus push to the forefront of the research focus the human ability to prevent conflicts through deliberation and to decide on development challenges in dialogue. The Action will create an interdisciplinary platform to discuss existing empirical and theoretical approaches to these topic, initiate new synergies between different research fields and disciplines and formulate set of toolkits and policy guidelines, which will enable decision-makers and other stakeholders to design and implement policies of sustainable development with a view on the specifics of embedded decision-making on the local, national and transnational level of governance.

Compendium Aestheticae: textbook edition for the aesthetics study programme

Team Leader: Mgr. Jana Migašová, PhD.
Team leader assistant: Mgr. Adrián Kvokačka, PhD.

Short project description

The project focuses on the preparation and realisation of such research and publication activities, which aim to fulfil the gap in existing-available, modern and up-to-date university textbooks and thus representing theoretical thinking and pedagogic orientation within the disciplines of aesthetics study programme core. The absence of such textbooks, particularly publications reflecting thinking and practice of “Presov” school is significant, since the level of inter-disciplinarity and complementarity of aesthetical and art-theoretic disciplines, typical for Presov aesthetical milieu, is significant for its discourse openness towards the plurality of approaches in the search for inter-disciplinarity asa non-violent and prolifering conformity. Contrary to  the other institutions dealing with aesthetics as a study programme, the institute proposing the project focuses on supporting the coexistence of various disciplines: disciplines interrelated with the history of aesthetics (theory of aesthetics, systematic aesthetic, etc.), as well as disciplines of history, theory and aesthetics of music, theatre and fine arts. It is obvious, that scientific-research and pedagogic orientation of the workplace is comprehensive. The project proposed is thus motivated not only by the absence of textbooks, but also by the ambition to utilise the experience and autonomy of the research team into conceptual effort in the form of future edition of the textbooks of Presov aesthetic school.

The first consists of selected musical and theoretical treatises and works of Slovak scholars, musicians, aestheticians, in which works the issues of aesthetics in the area of music where reflected (The Presov Philosophical School, The Protestant Lyceum in Bratislava, Jan Levoslav Bella). The second context includes research of the roots of the current music and aesthetical thoughts in Slovakia and their image in theoretical reflection (Jozef Kresanek, Peter Faltin etc.). The result of the project is a monograph compiling basic developmental lines and figures that most influenced the development of systematic musicology and its sub-discipline, music aesthetics in Slovakia.
