Abstract

Social networks have become an integral part of the daily lives of a huge number of people. This phenomenon has not escaped the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina either, so a large part of the local population is a user of one or more social networks. In recent years, "Instagram" has been one of the most widespread social networks, especially among the younger population. What is interesting about this social network and the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina is the fact that a large number of young Muslim women use "Instagram" every day and publish photos and videos on their "profiles", the content of which is essentially self-promotion. It is particularly interesting that the users of "Instagram" are girls dressed in recognizable women's clothing, which distinguishes these people from those who are not Muslims. Despite the clear and unambiguous references of Islamic theology to the "Instagram" of the mentioned girls, obviously burdened by the principles of the consumerist way of life: "I have, so I am," they try to combine the incompatible: the Muslim teaching of modesty (tafsir) and not serving earthly things (zuhr) with revealing themselves and what they have (clothing, shoes, aids). ...). By these and similar acts, they show one of the forms of bigotism and seem to be taking largely steps that are not in favor of Islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

SUMMARY

Social medias became the part of everyday life of huge number of people. This phenomenon is also visible in Bosnia and Herzegovina, so many people in this country are users of one or more social medias. In previous few years, Instagram has become one of the widest used social medias, especially among younger population. The interesting fact about it is that many young muslim women and girls use Instagram everyday and post pictures and videos on their profiles which are only dedicated for self-promotion. It is also interesting that those female users of Instagram are dressed into characteristical islam clothing which separates them from non-muslims. Despite of clear teachings of Islamic theology, those girls and women, who are obsessed with principle of consumeristic lifestyle ’I have, I own, so I exist’, are trying to connect on Instagram two totally opposite things- islamic learnings about modesty (tafsir) and not slaving to this world lures (zuhri), and promoting themselves and their material property (shoes, clothes, gadgets etc.). Thanks to theese actions, they are showing one kind of bigotism and make steps that are not not positive for the islam in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
