It is sad news our Institute of British and American Studies must share with our former colleagues, students and friends who knew John, that is that he passed away some days ago. John was our former colleague, friend, a fascinating and emphatic teacher, and a passionate sport supporter. He was teaching courses on British and Irish Cultural Studies at our former Department of British and American Studies (currently Institute of British and American Studies) between 1995-2003 and again between 2005-2007. He has introduced Irish Studies in Slovakia and was particularly interested in British and Irish film, music and poetry with the emphasis on poetry of Michael Harnett and Northern Ireland. John has also published numerous articles in these fields.

We all who knew John will be missing this extraordinary personality.
