Erasmus+ Visit to the University of Oviedo, Spain

The Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union is an important part of promoting academic and professional cooperation between the European Union and other countries. The Institute of British and American Studies actively participates in this program and has both sent its members to many European and overseas countries and hosted colleagues and experts from Australia, the USA, Spain, the Czech Republic, Poland, and other countries.

As a participant in this program, Jaroslav Kušnír visited the Department of English, French and German Philology at the University of Oviedo, Spain, one of the University's partner institutions, between June 22 and 25th, 2026. Oviedo is a historical and one of the most important Asturian cities in the north of Spain with a prestigious University of Oviedo. During his stay, Jaroslav Kušnír cooperated with Professor Cristina Valdés Rodríguez and other colleagues in their English study program, compared the syllabi in American and British literature, and worked on his project in the university library, using excellent materials on British, American, and Australian literature and culture.

Professor Valdés Rodríguez (pictured with the author of this article) explained the system of study and the English study programs at the University of Oviedo, and the author of this article discussed further possibilities for cooperation.

However short, this visit significantly contributed to both professional enrichment and international cooperation between the University of Oviedo and the Institute of British and American Studies at the University of Prešov. Similar cooperation will continue to be strongly supported by the Institute of British and American Studies.
