English for V4 Countries Heritage Presentation

Short project description

Universities from V4 countries and Ukraine, together with local museums, will contribute to V4 heritage promotion by researching translation of exhibition texts into English and by cooperative training of trainees, resulting in the research monograph, 6 sets of English exhibition texts displayed in V4 museums and the heritage terms glossary.

The project will set up sustainable cooperation of educational and cultural institutions in promoting the V4 heritage through good quality translations.

 

Expected Outputs

  1. The research monograph on translation of museum texts with the estimated number of 60 pages
  2. Six sets of texts accompanying historical and cultural exhibits in the museums of the involved towns. The estimated number of pages: one set of texts - 25 pages, altogether – 150 pages. The texts will be translated by students who will get the input from their teachers at regular seminars. Crucial translation and cultural issues will be examined and practised at international workshops. The final editing will be done by a native speaker, an experienced university teacher.
  3. The online glossary of cultural heritage terms. The estimated number of glossary entries: 100. The glossary will be written in five versions: CZ-En, HU-En, PL-En, SK-En and UA - En
