At present, his research activities are focused on the area of managerial economics, regional development, and the organization of the economic sphere in the process of formulating principles of economics.

In a narrow sense, his research is focused on the production and financial-economic analysis of the agricultural enterprises and on proposal of measures that would improve future financial and managerial processes in the company; on identification of factors of prosperity and productivity of the company in general, ensuring effective management of the company. It is also focused on the issue of sustainable development of the regions from production and environmental point of view; on the analysis of performance determinants of agricultural entities in terms of commodity markets and exogenous factors of the economic environment (e.g. common agricultural policy and management of grants and subsidies, etc.); as well as on theoretical and analytical view of organizing the economic sphere, its decision-making and trends in the process of formulating principles of economics.

In 2008 he was appointed Associate Professor in the field of study "Management" at the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov (Slovakia).

In 2002 he was awarded a PhD degree (philosophiae doctor) in the field of study "Sectoral and Branch Economics" at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra, (Slovakia).

The title of engineer (Ing.) was awarded to him in the study field of "Economics of Agriculture" at the Faculty of Economics and Management of the Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra (Slovakia) in 1998.

Since 2010, he has been a member of the Regional Science Association International (RSAI) and the European Regional Science Association (ERSA). In 2008, he became a member of the Scientific Board of the Faculty of Management of the University of Prešov in Prešov. Since 2006, he has chaired the Editorial Board of the Scientific Proceedings of the Department of Economics and Economy.

So far, he was/is an investigator of 14 research grants (VEGA – 8, KEGA – 4, APVV – 1, Institutional Research - 2, Norway Grants – 1). In 6 of these research grants (VEGA – 3, KEGA – 3) he was/is a leader of the research teams.

So far, he was/is a member of the research teams in 2 development projects (The Operational Programme Education). He also cooperated with economic practice, where he participated as an expert in the creation of 5 investment projects under the Sectoral Operational Program Agriculture and Rural Development (SOP P-RV).

He is a co-author of the economic software SOFINA_standard issued by the prestigious publisher Wolters Kluwer Ltd.

As part of his studies and later work at various universities, he participated in the following selected mobilities and stays at foreign universities:

• Mobility - promoting the exchange of expertise and experience of creative workers (staff teaching mobility - the Erasmus programme; teaching and presentation  of scientific and professional activities), 2011 (11), University of  Business in Prague, the Czech Republic
• Stay at foreign university, 2000 (08): Université de Genève, Geneva, Switzerland
• Stay at foreign university, 2000 (08): University of Murcia, Murcia, Spain
• Mobility - promoting the exchange of expertise and experience of creative workers (visiting scholarship holder), 1999 (09-11): Katholieke Universiteit Leuven, Leuven, Belgium.
• Stay at foreign university, 1998 (08): University of Oxford, Oxford, the United Kingdom     

Up to now, he has published more than 210 scientific contributions and publications, and it is worth mentioning their publishing on 25 foreign and 30 domestic scientific conferences. He is also an author and co-author of 4 scientific and specialized monographs, 10 university textbooks and 7 textbooks, 1 textbook for secondary schools, 12 scientific and 9 specialized contributions in domestic journals, 34 scientific contributions in international journals, 24 scientific papers in domestic and 2 scientific papers in international non-conference reviewed proceedings.

35 of his scientific publications are in the Web of Science database and 26 scientific publications in the Scopus database. There are 110 citations of his published works registered in the Web of Science database and 79 citations of his published works in the Scopus database.

So far, he was/is a co-guarantor of doctoral studies, habilitation and professorial nomination procedures in the field of study "Management" at the Faculty of Management and Business of the University of Prešov in Prešov.

At present, he is head of the Department of Economics and Economy at the Faculty of Management and Business  of the University of Prešov in Prešov.
