Focus of the department

The Department of Economics and Economy plays an important role, as it participates in co-guaranteeing the study programmes and in teaching the major economic disciplines. The department provides teaching of compulsory and elective economic subjects within the accredited study at the Faculty of Management and Business.

The main economic subjects of the department are Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Business Economics, Entrepreneurship in Small and Medium Enterprises, National Economy, Economic Policy, World Economy, and International Relations.

The primary pedagogical role of the workplace implies the task of creating university textbooks and study texts, as well as other scientific and professional publishing activities. The publications of the department reflect the results of their own scientific research as well as research within research projects and other grant tasks.

In organizing scientific seminars and conferences, the department cooperates not only with domestic universities and institutions, but also with universities and institutions operating abroad. Its foreign partners are / were in the United States (Mid-Atlantic Christian University), Great Britain (Middlesex University; University of Lincoln), Australia (Australian Catholic University), Russia (Kazan Federal University), Poland (University of Dąbrowa Górnicza, Wroclaw University of Economics, Poznan University of Life Sciences, Rzeszow University of Technology, Czestochowa University of Technology), Hungary (Budapest Metropolitan University), Netherlands (Wageningen University), Serbia (University of Novi Sad), Romania (University of Brasov), the Czech Republic (Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, University of Business in Prague, ops, VŠB - Technical University of Ostrava). Domestic partners are (University of Economics in Košice, University of Pavol Jozef Šafárik in Košice, University of Economics and Management of Public Administration in Bratislava, Slovak University of Agriculture in Nitra).
