Bachelor´s Study Program: Social Work
Graduate profile
Graduates are ready to perform socio-administrative activities at various levels of public administration, basic social counseling, social diagnostics, social prevention, social and legal protection and screening, of other forms of social intervention (e.g. crisis intervention, fieldwork, social services.), the use of research and design results in social work.
They know the basics of the theory and practice of social work, they have knowledge of the tasks of state administration, public institutions, self-governing bodies and non-state subjects in the field of social policy and work.
They are competent to:
- identify the nature of the social problem on the theoretical level and in practice,
- apply the theoretical and practical knowledge gained from social work and other disciplines (in particular sociology, psychology, pedagogy, law, economics, public policy, ethics) to solve practical problems in the field of social work and specific daily life situations,
- work in a broad area of the public and private spheres at the levels of family – community (village) - region - society,
- apply their skills in institutional or inter-institutional and interdisciplinary teams,
- keep in touch with current developments in the field, organize their own learning and development and continuance of their own professional status.
Theoretical knowledge:
- about the role of the state administration, public authorities, self-government bodies and non-state subjects in the field of social policy,
- about corporate social work and social work conducted in other sectors (e.g. education, health services, law),
- the basics of the theory and practice of social work towards an individual target groups and areas of solving social risks,
- they understand the specifics (including cultural) of social work clientele (e.g. elderly, migrant, addicted, unemployed, disabled, homeless, etc.)
- they understand personal experiences and motivations,
- they are sensitive to prejudice and they support diversity,
- they understand the foundation of social work in national and international social policy.
Practical Skills:
- the ability to apply relevant solutions to social situations in accordance with acquired theoretical and practical knowledge,
- the ability to make critical judgments in addressing social problems of people in different situations,
- the ability to use modern methods and resources, including the latest ICT,
- cooperation in designing, implementing and evaluating new partial solutions to social situations and problems of target groups,
- cooperation in project teams on developing, introducing, implementing and verifying partial solutions to social problems,
- be guided by appropriate practices in accordance with the professional, legal and ethical framework of the discipline,
- Prevention of discrimination in their practice and observance of the principle of equal opportunities.
- Definition of areas for graduate´s application:
- in state administration, public administration and local government institutions,
- in state and non-state social care facilities,
- in associations and foundations focusing on socially beneficial social activity,
- in other institutions for mediating personal and material help to people in need and helping socially destitute,
- in the area of community development and planning,
- in health care facilities, in the context of school social work, in corporate social work.
They will acquire full first degree university education in the department of social work with a general orientation for working with an individual, family, group and community.
Bachelor´s Study Program: Ethics - Social work
Graduate profile
Graduates of Ethics and Social Work field of study (1st grade) have cross-sectional knowledge of ethics and social work, focusing on application use, which correspond to the current state of knowledge and the development of social practice. They are ready to perform social-administrative activities, basic social and law counseling, social diagnostics, social prevention, social and law protection and screening, other forms of social intervention (e.g. crisis intervention, streetwork, social services, resocialization, negotiation and representation of clients, assistance to citizens in material and social need, etc.), the use of research results in the field of social work, with emphasis on its ethical dimension, for their own practice, designing in social work.
Graduates are capable of descriptive reflection and evaluation approach to ethical phenomena for preparing the function of codified ethics, applying acquired theoretical knowledge from the field of ethics to specific daily life situations, actively participating in solving ethical problems of professional ethics and adequately using practical procedures and instruments to solve ethical questions in this particular field, to identify the nature of the ethical problem not only on theoretical level but also in practice (eg. assessing the ethical situation in a company, firm, organization or institution, all in the state, private or public sectors), using basic knowledge from the sociology field of study, statistics, demographics, psychology and theory of social work necessary in accomplishing the practical tasks of social work, work in a broad area of the public and private sphere at the level of the family – community (village) - society, apply the basic skills of working in any institutional team, keep in touch with current developments in their field, to organize their own learning and development and continuance of their own professional status.
Theoretical knowledge: graduates have acquired the basics of the theory and practice in social work towards individual target groups and areas of solving social risks, graduates have knowledge of the tasks of state administration, self-government bodies and non-state subjects in the field of social policy, they understand the necessity of applying the ethical dimension in individual areas and sectors of social work performance. they are able to properly recognize the place of ethical and humane values in a person's life and decide on the premises of moral conflicts in everyday life and in complex social conflicts and situations.
Practical skills and competences: graduate´s ability to apply relevant solutions to social situations in accordance with acquired theoretical and practical knowledge, with particular emphasis on the ethical aspect of the problem. Graduates are qualified to prepare and coordinate the work of codified ethics - ethical codes, ethics committees, ethical audits, and so on. The graduate has the ability to collaborate in designing, implementing and evaluating new partial solutions to social situations and problems of target groups, with particular emphasis on the ethical aspect of the problem, the ability to critically judge when addressing social problems of people in different situations, the ability to use modern methods and means, including the newest ICT, to co-work in project teams on developing, introducing, implementing and verifying of partial solutions to social problems, with particular emphasis on the ethical aspect of solutions, following appropriate practices in accordance with the professional, legal and ethical framework of the discipline, to prevent discrimination in their practice and to adhere to the principle of equal opportunities.
Bachelor´s Study Program: Teaching of Social Work
Graduate profile
Graduates of bachelor study in the field of Teaching of Social Work know the basics of the theory and practice of social work, have knowledge of the tasks of state administration, public authorities, self-governing bodies and non-state subjects in social policy and work and they have basic theoretical knowledge in the field of vocational education, (social services, social counseling, social and legal protection, socio-psychological training) as well as competencies and knowledge in the field of social work in the school environment (school social work).
Graduates and graduates are ready for:
- assistance to the teacher in the field of vocational subjects (social work, social services, social counseling),
- school social work,
- socio-administrative activities at individual levels of government,
- basic social and legal counseling,
- social diagnostics,
- social prevention, social and legal protection and screening,
- other forms of social intervention (e.g. crisis intervention, field work, social services, resocialization, negotiation and representation of the client / s, assistance to citizens in material and social need, etc.)
- use of research results in the field of social work,
- designing in social work.
Graduates are able:
- after the successful completion of the first stage of the study to continue the studies at the second stage of the study program Teaching of Social Work,
- to implement school social work under the responsibility of a social work assistant,
- to identify the nature of the social problem on the theoretical level, but also in practice,
- to apply acquired theoretical and practical knowledge of social work and other disciplines (especially sociology, psychology, pedagogy, nursing, law, economics, demography, public policy, ethics) to solve practical problems in social work,
- to apply acquired theoretical and practical knowledge to specific daily life situations,
- to work in a broad area of the public and private spheres at the family - municipality - region – society levels,
- to apply practical skills in the inter-institutional or inter-institutional and inter-disciplinary teams,
- keep in touch with current developments in their field, organize their own learning and development and continuance in improving their professional standing,
Theoretical knowledge:
- graduates have acquired the basics of the theory and practice of social work towards individual target groups and areas of social risk management,
- they understand the specifics (including cultural) of social work clientele (e.g. children, the elderly, people with disabilities, addicted, the homeless, unemployed, socially excluded, migrant);
- they understand personal experience and motivations,
- they are sensitive to prejudice and they support diversity,
- they have knowledge of the tasks of the state administration, public authorities, self-government bodies and non-state subjects in the field of social policy,
- they have knowledge of corporate social work and social work performed in other sectors (e.g. education, health services, law),
- they understand the foundation of social work in national and international social policy,
- they know the fundamentals of didactics of social work,
- they recognize the specificities of psychology and pedagogy necessary for the position of the teacher's assistant,
- they understand the developmental specifics of the different age categories of pupils and their educational needs,
- they understand the social, psychological and educational specifics of pupils with special needs (in social, health, economic, cultural field).
Practical Skills:
- the ability to apply relevant solutions to social situations in accordance with acquired theoretical and practical knowledge (also with an emphasis on the school environment),
- the ability to cooperate in designing, implementing and evaluating of new partial solutions to social situations and problems of target groups (also with emphasis on the school environment),
- critical judgment in accepting solutions to the social problems of people in different situations (also with an emphasis on the school environment),
- the ability to use modern methods and resources, including the latest ICT,
- cooperate in project teams to develop, introduce, implement and verify partial solutions to social problems (also with an emphasis on the school environment);
- be guided by appropriate practices in accordance with the professional, legal and ethical framework of the discipline,
- preventing discrimination in their practice and observing the principle of equal opportunities,
- didactically elaborate and present professional knowledge in the sphere of social work and social and human sciences,
- communication with the external environment of the school (family, social institutions and organizations, medical facilities, psychological and pedagogical facilities) in order to meet the needs of pupils.
Definition of areas of graduate´s application:
- in a secondary school environment as a teacher assistant,
- in primary and secondary school environment as a school social worker,
- in the institutions of state administration, public institutions and local authorities,
- in state and non-state social care facilities for children, young people, adults or elderly people,
- in associations and foundations focusing on socially beneficial social activity,
- other institutions for mediating personal and material help to people in need and to help socially disadvantaged, disabled, unemployed, lonely, etc.,
- in the field of community development and community planning,
- in healthcare facilities and within school social work,
- in corporate social work.
Graduate will acquire full higher education in the field of Social Work Teaching as well as social work with a general orientation on work with individuals, families, groups and communities, as well as work in the field of school social work.
