Ethics of social consequences within contemporary ethical theories
Project number: VEGA 1/0629/15
Leading researcher of the project: prof. PhDr. Vasil Gluchman, CSc.
The project focuses on the analysis of ethics of social consequences as one of the non-utilitarian versions of
consequentialism and some other ethical theories of the present, examines their strengths and weaknesses in terms of the ability of the ethical concept to respond to the ethical and moral problems of the present.
The subject of analysis, comparison, and evaluation will be the values of the first row (i.e., the values of humanity, human dignity, human moral right to life) and the second row in ethics of social consequences (justice, responsibility, tolerance, and duty), including understanding the consequences compared to other ethical theories and their understanding of the mentioned values, or criteria of consequences.
As a very important area, we also consider the understanding of man as a moral agent within ethics of social consequences and a comparison with the perception of man or person in other current ethical concepts. Attention must also be paid to the perception of questions of the origin of morality and morality, the nature of good and evil, etc.
