The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning was established on the basis of the University of Prešov Academic Senate decision and came into existence on October 10th, 2006. The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning focuses on organising and providing activities within lifelong and complementary education. The activities are aimed at complementing and extending already obtained education or re-qualification by appropriately selected methods, forms of organization, principles of didactics, using the newest means and tools of didactics and information and communication technologies especially in the fields of humanities and natural sciences.

The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning consists of the following parts and organises and provides the following activities:

• The Driving School UNIPO, the university driving school, provides the part of its theoretical training in the form of e-learning. Its practical training is carried out in the air-conditioned training vehicle. The Driving School UNIPO also provides First aid course.
• The Audiovisual Studio carries out almost all its activities with students who can, in this way, obtain practical experience with audiovisual and multimedium equipments in external environment.
• Complementary pegagogical/teacher training study is currently provided in 20 study programmes.
• Prešov Children´s University is organised by The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning together with the Department of Children´s Language and Culture in cooperation with other faculties of the university. The project enables summer holiday education for children at the age of 7 – 14.
• The University of the Third Age provides, in an appropriate way, scientific knowledge in selected study fields for people after their productive age, as well as for those people, who cannot be involved in work process and/or are interested in participating in education.
• The Institute of Digital Competences enables university staff members and other employees and students to paticipate in seven modules of ECDL System testing.
• The Institute of Language Competences coordinates and provides education in the field of specific language and language for specific purposes in terms of the first, second and third level of study programmes held at the faculties of the university.
