University of Presov signed a Memorandum with RTVS in the field of creative industry development

Cooperation in supporting the activities of the University of Prešov (PU) in Prešov in the field of higher education and the development of cultural and creative industry is the common intention of the Memorandum of Cooperation signed on 7 November 2023 by representatives of PU and RTVS. In practice, it will be implemented through the Creative Centre (CC) of the RTVS Studio in Košice.

The University of Prešov became the first university from the Eastern Slovakia region with which the RTVS CC in Košice started cooperation in the form of a memorandum. "I am glad that our university is one of the universities establishing cooperation with the RTVS Creative Centre, which will enable students to gain experience in the creative industry. I believe that in this way we will be able to improve the quality of preparation of our students and graduates for practice," said Rector Peter Kónya at the signing of the memorandum.

The aim of the centre is to provide specific services as well as services to support the demand for creative work, the development of creative talent and non-technological innovations in the field of audiovisual and new media and closely related areas of the creative industry.

"The memorandum is a tool that opens the door for cooperation so that we can create conditions for students of the University of Prešov who can come to the creative centre to gain a new perspective and new opportunities for self-realization, to use their creative abilities and to move forward in their professional lives," said Jaroslav Kerner, director of the RTVS Košice Studio, who also called the newly emerging centre a "spaceship" due to its modern technological equipment.

The Creative Centre of RTVS Košice Studio will provide an extensive complex of services aimed at supporting the development of creative talent and skills, primarily in the audiovisual field for several professional fields, such as director of cinematography, lighting engineer, sound engineer, editor, film director, (dubbing) actors, etc., but also for closely related professions in the field of graphic design, ICT and advertising. "The Creative Centre is unique in its technological equipment, which is unparalleled in Slovakia. Thanks to this, it will allow all those interested in the audiovisual industry to develop their ideas, talent and creativity," added Martin Šabľa, director of the CC.

The project for the establishment of creative centres in Slovakia is aimed at mobilising creative potential in the regions and is funded by the European Union. RTVS currently has three creative centres in Bratislava, Banská Bystrica and Košice.
