Course Description
The study programme is designed to reflect the requirements for a graduate of the first degree in the field of study of Economics and Management.
Our Bachelor in Management (Bc.) programme prepares you to acquire relevant professional knowledge in the field of economics and management, to gain and use methods in the subject area, to acquire the ability to conceptually solve elementary and advanced problems in the field in the dynamic development of knowledge and to present the results. The aim of the study programme is to relate the needs of the labour market, practice and prospective employers of graduates.
The graduates of the Bachelor's study programme in Management will possess professional and methodological knowledge, skills and competences in the field of economics and management, which create a prerequisite for their sectoral specialisation and will be in connection with the specific requirements of practice and the labour market.
You will build advanced competencies in communication, analysis, and problem solving that are critical for junior managerial positions. The programme encourages the innovative use of theoretical frameworks, enabling you to anticipate and respond to evolving developments in business and management. Graduates will display a strong capacity for independent judgement when dealing with complex challenges, positioning them as key assets in organisational leadership. They will be capable of recognising emerging trends, assessing their implications, and, through conceptual and strategic thinking, supporting the effective transfer of relevant knowledge into economic and managerial practice.
To apply for the Bachelor in Management (Bc.) at the Faculty of Management and Business, University of Prešov, the basic condition for admission to the studies is the acquisition of a complete secondary education or a complete secondary vocational education, including the school-leaving exam (maturita) and sufficient English language proficiency, at level B2.

Curriculum
According to the Study Rules of the University of Presov, the recommended study plan is defined by the list of compulsory and compulsory optional courses (subjects) and the recommended range of optional subjects, their credit and time allowance, recommended semesters of their implementation so that the scope of direct teaching activities is 18 to 22 lessons per week.
The Bachelor study programme is designed for a standard length of study - 3 years and the standard workload is 60 credits per academic year. The total number of credits for the whole study is 180 credits.
The study plan includes:
- compulsory subjects (13 weeks – one semester)
- compulsory optional subjects (13 weeks – one semester)
- optional subjects (13 weeks – one semester)
The total number of credits students can obtain for compulsory subjects is 144, representing 80% of the total number of credits required to complete their studies, while credits for compulsory subjects constitute 70-80% of credits necessary for graduation.

The study program is composed of the combination of knowledge-based tasks and practical assignments and projects using a range of methods and teaching forms such as lectures, seminars, presentations, narrations, case studies, discussions, group work, project work, consultations, supervision, the Bachelor Thesis Project, and Bachelor Thesis Defence and activating teaching methods (e.g. dialogical methods, situational methods, methods of group teaching and cooperative learning, project methods, simulation methods, staging methods, methods developing critical thinking, problem-solving methods, etc.).

The learning outcomes in the study programme are achieved through measurable educational outcomes in individual subjects of the study programme and are transformed into the abilities (knowledge, skills and competencies) of the student at the time of completion of the study program. The goals and outcomes of education are defined on the basis of knowledge, skills and competencies of profile subjects and reflect the National Qualifications Framework. The student will acquire a comprehensive set of knowledge, skills and competencies in individual areas after the end of the study program, in particular:
Knowledge:
- characterise basic economic laws; describe legal standards, guidelines and laws; specify the principles of double-entry bookkeeping; explain the meaning and function of economic forecasting; acquire theoretical, general and methodological knowledge of corporate finance; specify the production of economic analyses and the tools used in this process; specify the statistical methods used in economic analysis and forecasting; characterise the business environment of the Slovak Republic and the EU; define business economics in general; assess the financial credibility of an enterprise; characterise and justify the significance and impact of changes in individual elements of the environment on the enterprise and the business itself; - characterize the process of creating organizational structures, declarative explanation of the suitability of a particular organizational structure; understand the need for human resource management in practice and how to ensure that this need is shared with other departments in the enterprise; know the possible role of the human resources management unit and its competences; define the subjects of human resources management; describe the activities of the unit and the distribution of work tasks between the different job roles; specify the differences and define the specificities of marketing across the different media to which it is applied; define the methods of market research, competitive analysis and consumer surveys; describe the principles of management; performance measurement and control of the activities of job positions in the marketing department of a trade and services enterprise.

Admissions
Main requirements:
- The completion of secondary education or full vocational secondary education, including the school-leaving (maturita) examination.
- The admission procedure for bachelor's studies is conducted without an entrance examination. All applicants applying for studies at FMB PU are ranked in a single admission order for the study programme they have applied for (each study programme has its own separate ranking).
- Applicants are admitted based on the results of their school-leaving (maturita) examination and their assigned position in the admission ranking, within the limits set by the faculty's teaching capacity.
- The applicant's final ranking position is calculated according to a published algorithm available on the faculty's website (https://www.unipo.sk/fakulta-manazmentu/informacie/uchadzaci/).
- In the case of an applicant who completed secondary education outside the territory of the Slovak Republic, it is necessary to submit an officially certified and translated decision on the recognition of equivalence of educational documents (so-called nostrification) (explained in more detail in the text above).
- The obligation to undergo verification of language competence to study the study programme in English applies to:
- an applicant who has not completed secondary school studies in the English language, including the grade in English on the school-leaving certificate,
- an applicant who does not present the prescribed certificate proving English language proficiency at the required level of at least B2 – upper-intermediate (the achieved level must be demonstrated by a diploma or certificate, e.g., TOEFL, IELTS, etc.).
- The dates and method of conducting the verification of language competence to study the study programme in English (physical attendance/online) will be communicated to applicants in due time to the email address specified in the application.
- Specific cases will be assessed individually by a committee established for this purpose.

- Electronic application via MAIS: Fill in the electronic form through the Modular Academic Information System (MAIS), print it, sign it, and send it by post to the faculty address
APPLY NOW - Paper application: Download and fill in the official application form in English (“Application form for Bachelor study in English”), and send it with all required documents by post to the faculty.
In both cases, the application must be delivered to the Faculty of Management and Business by the given deadline, along with all required documents.
Required documents:
- A duly and fully completed electronic application for studies submitted through MAIS (https://www.unipo.sk/cvtpu/hlavne-sekcie/MAIS/intro/), including the attachments specified in the following points.
- An officially certified copy of the school-leaving (maturita) certificate, which must be sent by post or delivered in person to FMB PU no later than 17 June 2026.
- Applicants who complete the school-leaving (maturita) examination in the academic year 2025/2026 must, immediately after the examination, send or personally deliver to the address of FMB PU an officially certified copy of the school-leaving certificate, including grades.
- Applicants who completed secondary education outside the territory of the Slovak Republic are required to submit officially translated and certified documents proving the completion of either full secondary education with a school-leaving (maturita) examination or full vocational secondary education with a school-leaving (maturita) examination, along with the decision on the recognition of equivalence of education documents for the purpose of continuing studies (so-called nostrification), issued by the Regional School Office in the Slovak Republic ( information from the Ministry of Education regarding the recognition of education documents is available at: https://uznavanie.minedu.sk/en/navigator/.
- A structured curriculum vitae (in the case of an electronic application, it must be uploaded as an attachment to the e-application).
- Proof of payment of the admission procedure fee (in the case of an electronic application, it must be uploaded as an attachment to the e-application, 30 EUR).
If all the required documents are not submitted by the specified deadline, the application will be placed into the 2nd round of the admission procedure.

Scholarships
At the University of Prešov, outstanding academic performance is rewarded through a merit-based scholarship system. Up to 10% of full-time Bachelor's and Master's degree students may receive a motivational scholarship every semester, based on previous exceptional academic achievements.

National Scholarship Scheme
Slovakia invites talented students from around the world to pursue their academic goals through the National Scholarship Scheme – Studying in Slovakia Rewards Me. This program offers a scholarship of €5,000 per academic year for two years of full-time Master’s studies at selected public higher education institutions, including the University of Prešov. Master’s program in Management is eligible under this scheme, as it falls within the national Smart Specialisation Strategy (SK RIS3 2021+).
Every year, up to 45 scholarships are awarded at the Master’s level based solely on Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) scores. To be considered, applicants must achieve a minimum SAT score of 1100. No other test or substitution is accepted.
