Profile of Bachelor's Degree Graduate
The graduate of the 1st degree of university studies in the Nursing study programme is a health worker who has the professional competence, knowledge, skills and competence to provide nursing care to newborns, children and adults defined by the Decree of the Ministry of Health of the Slovak Republic dated 01. of April 2018, No. 95/2018 Coll., which determines the scope of nursing practice provided by a nurse independently, independently based on a doctor's indication and in cooperation with a doctor, and the scope of midwifery practice provided by a midwife independently, independently based on a doctor's indication and in cooperation with a doctor, and in accordance with the Regulation of the Government of the Slovak Republic No. 296/2010 Coll. on the professional competence for the performance of the health profession, the method of further education of health workers, the system of specialized fields and the system of certified work activities, as amended.
Knowledge
The graduate of the bachelor's degree nursing study programme has knowledge of nursing as a scientific discipline that integrates knowledge of other related scientific fields. He can apply theoretical knowledge in the field of psychology, pedagogy, ethics, sociology and management in the provision of nursing care within the framework of primary, secondary and tertiary prevention, as well as care in illness, rehabilitation and follow-up care.
The graduate has knowledge of how to maintain and support the optimal health status of individuals, families, groups and communities in various situations requiring nursing care, acquires the active participation of individuals, families, groups and communities in the process of maintaining and supporting health, treatment and care, monitors the need for nursing care, including education for individuals, families, groups and in mutual cooperation ensures its maximum quality in accordance with ethical principles, patients' rights with an emphasis on maximum quality and performance.
The graduate has clinical knowledge of individual medical fields, which are inevitably related to the provision of safe nursing care in health and illness.
The graduate is able to fulfill the requirements of the discipline that integrates nursing theories with scientific knowledge from other fields, necessary for the provision of nursing care. He is able to think critically and work with the results of credible research. The graduate has prerequisites for further university, specialized and continuous education.
Skills
The graduate of the bachelor's degree nursing study programme has the skills and is ready to provide nursing care to newborns, children and adults in accordance with the defined competencies of nurses. He can solve and objectively evaluate situations for the benefit of the patient's health and recovery. He has communication skills that he uses in his daily interaction with patients and members of the healthcare team. The graduate possesses the technical skills necessary for working with medical and nursing equipment.
Competences
The graduate of the bachelor's degree nursing study programme is proactive in protecting and supporting the health of individuals, families, groups and communities. Demonstrates the ability to work in a team, think critically, make informed decisions while providing safe nursing care. The graduate knows one world language, which he actively uses in clinical practice. Knows and follows the legislation that is necessary for the performance of the nursing profession.
Applicability
The graduate of the study programme in the field of nursing will apply as a bachelor's nurse in nursing practice in patient workplaces of health facilities, in primary health care, in management, in research and in education. He can work privately and independently within the framework of applicable regulations. Nurses can continue their education in specialized training and in continuous education. The graduate will receive a complete 1st degree university education in the field of nursing with an orientation to the provision of health care.
