Support of students with specific needs
Who we are:
The mission of the Student Support Centre of UP (University of Prešov) and the coordinators for students with specific needs is to carry out organizational, coordination, information, and management activities aimed at creating an accessible academic environment, objectively assessing students’ specific needs, and creating appropriate conditions for students with special needs without lowering academic performance requirements. We participate in the evaluation of the needs and requirements of applicants and students with specific needs in the context of study programmes. We cooperate with students in the preparation and compilation of the Statute of Students with Specific Needs. The Statute may be obtained on the basis of a voluntary expression of interest by any student who meets the criteria of a student with special needs within the meaning of the Higher Education Act and who undergoes an assessment of their specific needs at UP. Based on this assessment, appropriate adjustments and the scope of support are granted during their studies or during the entrance examination. During their studies, we provide counselling for students with specific needs and assist in providing support services at the faculty and university. If necessary, we facilitate communication between the student and the relevant departments of the faculty and university.
