Káčko Prešov (Kreate klub), Hlavná 55 – programme January 2026

In December, the first training session of the Buddies programme took place, which is part of the peer support system for minor students. The aim of the programme is to ensure that every minor student is assigned a "Buddy" to help them adapt to the academic and student environment.

 

 

As part of the effective learning advisory services, the Student Support Centre organized a seminar for students in December entitled "Studying in the 21st Century: How to Use AI Effectively in Learning." The main topics were:
• types of learning styles and how to make the most of them
• which AI tools can help with learning
• how to prompt ChatGPT correctly and minimize its "hallucinations"
• what risks and ethical rules apply when working with AI at our university
  • On November 12, 2025, a seminar entitled "Supporting Mental Health in the University Environment" was held for university employees. We organized this seminar in response to their requests regarding the need for an appropriate response to various crisis situations that arise, particularly in communication with students or in situations in which the students are themselves involved.

Lecturers from the civic association IPčko presented the following topics::

  • typology of reactions to stressful situations

  • basic intervention techniquesy

  • presentation of the activities of the civic association IPčko and its Prešov club (for PU students as well)

  • concluding discussion.

  • ArtCentre OPEN again!!

  • At the beginning of June 2025, colleagues from the Department of Education took part in a 5-day intensive training course at Charles University as part of the BIP Erasmus+ Without Barriers: Let's Go Together! programme, which focuses on supporting students with specific needs during mobilities abroad. A total of 23 foreign partners from 10 countries and 14 universities participated in the event. The main emphasis was placed on the importance of an individual approach to students with specific needs when preparing for their trip abroad, but also on the need for cooperation between the sending and receiving institutions at the faculty and university level. 

Main topics were:

  1. psychological counselling
  2. support of students with various disabilities
  3. zootherapy
  4. use of virtual reality to ensure and verify the accessibility of buildings
  5. gender equity
  6. improving the well-being and academic performance of students and university staff
  7. short-term mobility opportunities for students with specific needs
  8. creating a network for future cooperation between participating partner universities with the aim of organizing a similar programme for students.

     

  • On May 22, 2025, a training session on Coping with emotionally challenging situations was held in cooperation with the civic association IPčko. The lecturer was the head of the Káčko club in Prešov. It was primarily intended for faculty coordinators for students with specific needs, Vice-Deans for Education, and other university departments.

 

  • On November 12, 2024, a training session on Communication with Persons with Visual Impairments was held. The training was provided by the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired of Slovakia, and the lecturer was the head of the Regional Center of the Union of the Blind and Visually Impaired in Prešov. It was primarily intended for faculty coordinators for students with specific needs, Vice-Deans for Education, and other university departments.

 

  • In September 2024, the Art Therapy Center (ArtCentre) was launched, where students can engage in the development of creative skills and interpersonal relationships through the art therapy programme throughout the semester.
