Doctoral studies (PhD.) in academic year 2026/2027
ADMISSION PROCEDURE
The Dean of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Prešov in Prešov hereby announces the admission procedure for full-time and part-time doctoral studies for the academic year 2026/2027 for graduates of Master’s degree studies (Joined 1st and 2nd level) in the field of study Theology, and for full-time and part-time doctoral studies in the field of study Social Work.
Applicants for doctoral studies must submit their application using the form "Application for Doctoral Studies" (Prihláška na doktorandské štúdium) along with the required appendices. In the application, the applicant must specify their personal data, the name of the study program, the selected dissertation topic, and the form of study. The following documents must be attached to the application:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV) including details on education attained,
- Certified copy of the diploma (Master’s degree / Mgr.) and the state examination certificate,
- Certificate of professional practice after graduation (if applicable),
- List of published works (if applicable),
- List of results of other professional activities (if applicable),
- Personal questionnaire (Personal data form),
- Dissertation project proposal (also in English – mandatory),
- Proof of payment of the €50 fee attached to the 3rd page of the application form.

The application must be sent to the Dean's Office of the Orthodox Theological Faculty of the University of Prešov, Masarykova 15, 080 01 Prešov, by June 15, 2026.
The admission procedure will take place on July 3, 2026, at 9:00 AM at the premises of the PBF PU in Prešov.
Part of the admission procedure for the field of Theology is an examination of knowledge in Orthodox theology (specifically Biblical Studies, Systematic and Practical Theology).
Part of the admission procedure for the field of Social Work is an examination of knowledge in social work (specifically Social Work Theory and Social Sciences, Methodology of Social Sciences, Quantitative and Qualitative Social Research Methods).
Applications for doctoral studies submitted after the deadline or failing to meet the required formalities will not be accepted by the Faculty. Further information is available at the Dean's Office of the PBF PU in Prešov.
Part-time doctoral studies are subject to a tuition fee of €990 per academic year for the study fields of Theology and Social Work.
Doctoral studies are governed by the valid Study Regulations of the University of Prešov (Part Three).
