Editorial - Acta Patristica, volume 10, issue 20/2019
Dear colleagues.
It is a great pleasure for me to introduce you to the next issue of our journal. Thematically, this issue is devoted to the history of Christianity in Egypt, including the pre-Christian period. The first study is devoted to the penetration of the Coptic language into the European environment, especially in and around Germany. The next article describes several examples of the penetration of life and thinking of Egyptian hermits into contemporary Christian life. Related to this topic is the next article, which describes the deep spiritual thoughts of one of the great personalities of hermit life not only in Egypt, the venerable Macarius the Great. The treatise on teoptics in the Old Testament era is the theme of the following study, which follows the look into the pre-Christian era. The description of the pre-Christian era is also shown in the next study, which more accurately assesses the Jewish diaspora in one of the most important Egyptian cities, Alexandria. The author historically and biblically describes the origin and life of the Jewish diaspora and its penetration into the culture of this cosmopolitan city. With another contribution, we return to the life of an already organized monk in its early days, namely to the community led by venerable Pachomios. This was the first organized fraternity of the monks, which was governed by a few simple principles, but most of these rules still apply to the practical life of monks today. The author of the following study outlines the image of a merchant in Egypt and his personal contribution to this occupation from the perspective of personal Christian life in an environment of Egyptian society. The last article refers to the history of theological dispute that the Church overcame at the 4th Ecumenical Council in Chalcedony. However, this council has become a milestone in the history of the Church because of the rejection of some ancient churches, one of which was Christians in Egypt.
In conclusion, we bring you a review of the proceedings of the conference, which deals with the topic of social work from the perspective of theology.
We believe that the theme of historical and cultural description of Egypt in the Christian and pre-Christian period will bring you many new knowledge, which you will also use in your scientific work.
