Questions and answers

1. Is the issuance of student IDs mandatory? Do all PU students have to have a card?
Based on Act no. 131/2002 on higher education institutions ( specifically § 67 paragraph 2) to issue cards to all students. Further details were specified in Methodological Guideline No. 16/2014 on the use, data structure and technical design of the student carddated September 1, 2014, issued by the Ministry of Education of the Slovak Republic The student card is a document confirming his legal status, which entitles him to use the rights and benefits of a student arising from laws, internal regulations of the university and agreements with other legal entities. This document is also used to prove the data entered in it. Based on these facts, in the academic year 2005/2006 PU issued ID cards for the first time to all students of the university.

2. What kind of ID will doctoral students have?
Depending on the type of study, they will receive a card in the same form as all other students, i.e. either a full-time student card or an external student card.

3. Which students will receive a card with an ISIC design?
Only full-time students are entitled to an ISIC (International Student Identity Card) design.

4. What kind of card does a student who is also an employee of the university receive? Does he have to have a special card as a student and a special card as an employee, or is one card enough?
If the card user is a member of several user groups (for example, a student and an employee at the same time), they are issued separate cards corresponding to each of their relationships with the university. There are several reasons. In addition to the exact observance of the conditions resulting from the legislation, it is, for example, a different practical application of different types of licenses, a different period of validity, a different purpose of use, different records in information systems and also other links to internal and external applications. For example, in the catering information system, on the basis of unique identification through a card, subsidies and payment of meal costs will be provided differently for employees (deduction from wages with consideration of the employee subsidy) and differently for students (withdrawal of funds from prepaid credit with consideration of the student subsidy and without payment VAT),

5. The price of a university card for a student is only for one academic year? Will this fee be paid every academic year?
Not. The university card is valid for 5 years (usually it will serve for the entire period of study). Only the ISIC license is valid for one academic year, which represents an item of EUR 10 in the initially paid amount. Each additional academic year, the student pays only an ISIC fee of EUR 10, thus continuing to receive the benefits of the ISIC card.

6. How much does an employee card cost?
A card for teaching staff with an ITIC license based on the Operating Rules of the Automatic Identification System costs EUR 10 (costs only for the ITIC fee). Those teaching staff who hold a card with an ITIC license and would like to extend the validity of the ITIC for a fee of EUR 10 also for another period, as the ITIC license is valid for them until the end of the relevant calendar year, are obliged to report and at the same time confirm this by writing out the Application for the issuance of an extension ITIC stamps by the end of November at UNIPOKONTAKT PU at the latest. The card for non-teaching employees is provided to the employee free of charge at the University's expense.
If the card is lost, or to the employee's damage to the card, the cost of producing a duplicate employee card is paid by the employee in full, in the amount of EUR 13.

7. Who owns the university card?
Student cards remain the property of the student after payment of fees (even after graduation), the cards of all employees remain the property of the university (the employee is obliged to return the card upon termination of employment).

8. Is the use of external applications of students' university cards mandatory?
External applications are an optional added value of the university card (passport) and are not mandatory for the student (with the exception of the ISIC design for full-time students). The university tried to integrate all currently available functionalities into the cards, and the PU student card is one of the most complex in this regard. However, it is only up to the individual decision of each student which functions he will actively use right away, or which he will only start using later (during the course of his studies).

9. Could you specify the terms of use of the ISIC design?
The ISIC design is only part of the cards of full-time students. The amount that the student shows at the time of administrative registration includes the issuance of a card with this design and at the same time the fee for the ISIC license (pre-printed validity extension stamp) for the relevant academic year in which the card is issued is paid for the first time. In the following years, the student only pays the fee for the ISIC license - an ISIC extension stamp will be affixed to the card. More information is provided on the website www.isic.sk.

The TransCard system ensures the total integration of all issuers and external service providers related to the use of smart cards into one system, so it is not just about transport applications, even if it is currently the most up-to-date area. PU joined this system together with other universities, and these activities were also jointly coordinated. The fee for external applications for the operator of the TransCard system - the company Transdata sro Bratislava is €3. Again, this is an additional functionality that the student or the employee does not have to use More information is available on the website www.preukazstudenta.sk .
