Research profile of the centre

The Research Centre of Cognitive Education has been established with the intention to conduct scientific research, and educational activities of the highest quality. The outcome for establishing the centre was ten years of research experience within the field of cognitive education and pedagogy at the Faculty of Education, University of Prešov. This experience is documented with:

• 3 APVV research projects within general calls;
• VEGA and KEGA projects;
• International research project ISPA EXEFUN;
• Publications nature and quality within the field;
• Organizing research conferences within the field out of the Slovak context;
• International reputation of the research findings in the area of cognitive education at the Faculty of Education, University of Prešov;
• Numerous invited lecturers from a national and international context;
• Connection of pure and applied research in the field of cognitive education;
• Originality and uniqueness of trend, absent in national and central-European context.

The subject of the centre's activity is scientific-research, counselling, and expertise activity, as well as coordination work in the area of scientific-research activities within the field of cognitive education at the Faculty of Education, University of Prešov. The research centre of cognitive education is designed as a research centre with an excellently equipped library, supportive assessments, and didactic tools. It represents modern, dynamically developing infrastructure of research and development in the area of cognitive pedagogical assessment and intervention. Moreover, it represents a research environment, focused particularly on applied research in the area of the latest trends in the field of educational sciences. It facilitates interactions between academic environments, its research, educational employees, and institutions for education. Its intention is to support the transfer of knowledge into practice. Mission of the centre is to:

• Develop a basis of applied, and action research in the field of cognitive education;
• Coordinate research in the field of cognitive education at the Faculty of Education, University of Prešov;
• Coordinate lifelong learning of teachers in the area of cognitive education;
• Disseminate knowledge gained from the research;
• Coordinate the creation of projects in the area of cognitive education;
• Organise lecturing activity within the field in local, national, and international context;
• Coordinate publications in the field of cognitive education at the Faculty of Education, University of Prešov;
• Cooperate at the commercialisation of projects' research outcomes in the area of cognitive education;
• Provide counselling activities in the field of cognitive education.
