Department of Communicative and Literary Education
Department of Communication and Literary Education scientific and research orientation include:
- literary-theoretical and literary-critical analysis of Slovak and world literature for children and youth,
- axiological aspects of literature for children and youth,
- language research – word-derivation and onomastic and their didactical use,
- cognitive aspects of language acquisition,
- executive functions as a prerequisite for the acquisition of language,
- research into child language,
- defining the curriculum for Slovak Language and Literature in primary education,
- strategies for developing functional literacy in primary school pupils (comprehension and production of text).
Students, upon completion of the courses offered by of the Department of Communicative and Literary Education, will:
- acquire theoretical knowledge of the Slovak language, communication, literature, book culture, and verbal art;
- obtain practical skills associated with developing communication and literary competence in preschool children, as well as didactical knowledge and skills necessary for teaching language to primary school pupils, communication and register, reading and literary education;
- improve their own communication skills in English language and extend their qualification by the area of foreign language teaching in kindergarten and primary school.
