Trip to Hungary

On Friday, April 14, 2023, our seminarists, together with fathers superiors, took part in an international trip beyond the borders of Slovakia to neighboring Hungary. This magnificent trip began with a liturgy with vladyka Peter Rusnák in the Greek Catholic seminary, and then we took a bus to the Hungarian village of Tolcsva, where we learned information about the care of vineyards and wine and were able to taste several wines directly in the wine cellar.

Subsequently, our journey led to the small village of Sajópalfala near Miskolc, where in the past the icon of the Mother of God shed tears and together with the local priest we prayed the Passover canon. After praying together, we moved to the pastoral center, where we were kindly hosted by the local priest and his wife.

After arriving in Miskolc, we visited the cathedral, where vladyka Atanáz Orosz welcomed us and told us more about the history and iconography of the cathedral. Then we had coffee at the bishop's office.

Finally, we concentrated in the Municipal Cultural Center, where we encouraged our brothers seminarists, performing at a concert with the choir of St. Roman the Melodist and St. John of Damascus. Besides our choir, we could also listen to other choirs and Hungarian poetry. The concert ended with the Passover blessing by vladyka Fulop Kocsis. After the concert, we went to a dinner to which we were invited by vladyka Atanáz. After a delicious dinner, we returned home. It was a blessed and grace-filled time for us, which we spent together in fraternal community, with the fathers superiors and with our bishop Peter.
