Academic advisors/tutors
Academic advisors, also known as tutors in academic institutions, advise bachelor's and master's students on study-related matters and assist in resolving academic issues.
In accordance with Article 19 of the Prešov University (PU) Study Regulations, they are particularly helpful in:
- drafting study plans,
- explaining the principles of credit-based study,
- interpreting the study regulations and other relevant rules,
- addressing various practical issues related to studying.
They maintain contact with students and provide necessary information on an ongoing basis.
At the beginning of the first year of bachelor's studies, they also (co-)organize an introductory information meeting, which is conducted at the faculty-wide level as an "Introduction to University Studies." Subsequent introductory meetings, more narrowly focused on studies in specific study programs, may also be conducted by individual departments and institutes.
If you need advice regarding your studies, please contact the tutor for your specific study program. You can also contact the staff of the study department. Academic advisors are selected from among the teaching staff and therefore have firsthand knowledge of the studies in specific study programs (e.g., course structure and sequence, credit counts), while the study department primarily handles the administrative aspects of studies (e.g., registrations and issuance of confirmations).
Information on studying for students with specific needs, including contact information for the faculty coordinator, can be found at this link: students with specific needs.
