ECTS and grading system
The credit system at the University of Presov follows the rules of the European Credit and Accumulation Transfer Sytem (ECTS). It was introduced at the University of Presov in 2005. The student’s standard load is expressed by the number of credits: 60 credits per academic year, 30 credits per semester.
Diploma supplement
The University of Presov was awarded a Diploma Supplement label in 2013. This honorary distinction ensures standards agreed by the European Commission, the Council of Europe and UNESCO. The Diploma Supplement is a document accompanying a higher education diploma, providing a standardised description of the nature, level, context, content and status of the studies completed by its holder (European Commission – ec.europa.eu)
The following scale is used for all types of evaluations/examinations:
Grade Meaning Comments Corresponding ECTS grade
A excellent able achievements = 1 A
B very good above-average achievements = 1,5 B
C good average achievements = 2 C
D laudable acceptable achievements = 2,5 D
E satisfactory achievements fulfil only the minimum criteria = 3 E
FX unsatisfactory achievements do not fulfil even the minimum criteria = 4 F/FX- fail
Percentage of each grade:
A – 100,00–90,00 %
B – 89,99-80,00 %
C – 79,99-70,00 %
D – 69,99-60,00 %
E – 59,99-50,00 %
FX – 49,99 and less %
Subjects such as excursions, practice, general physical education or field trips may not be evaluated by means of grades; in such case they are evaluated in the following way:
Z- accepted (students fulfilled minimum requirements for the award of credits)
N- non-accepted (students did not fulfil minimum requirements for the award of credits)
