Characteristics

The Orthodox priestly seminary has accommodation facilities with a capacity of 81 beds, a church, a library, a study room, a church museum, a classroom for practical exercises, a separate dining room, a kitchen, and a gymnasium.

The centre of this complex is the church of St. Apostle John the Theologian, who is the pride of the seminary, the school, our church, and the city of Presov. There is a work of great spiritual and cultural value in the form of icons that decorate the entire temple. Therefore, everyone who enters the temple seems to have reached a different world, to the true abode of God, sanctified by the prayers of believers.

The Orthodox priestly seminary has its Statute and Daily Schedule for spiritual and prayer life. Part of this complex is also a prayer chapel that serves students and believers for private prayers. It is dedicated to the feast of The Intercession of the Holy Mother of God, Blessed Virgin Mary.

Another educational process of practical exercises in liturgy, homiletics, typikon, Church Slovak and church singing continues in the Orthodox Priestly Seminary. In the 2003/2004 school year, an evaluation by crediting the index for practical exercises in the priestly seminary was introduced. The main mission of the priestly seminary is the spiritual preparation of theologians for the priestly mission. Many students are members of the Brotherhood of Orthodox Youth in Slovakia and Syndesmos. Students also participate in charitable and cultural activities in orphanages, hospitals, and retirement homes.

Based on the request for accommodation, the Orthodox priestly seminary of PU in Presov offers accommodation to students of FOT as well as other PU faculties. The application for accommodation for the following academic year must be submitted no later than June 30 in each academic year.
