Education

    In the field of study teaching and pedagogical sciences,the study program teacher training in physical education, teacher training in physical education in combination create the core of a separate special discipline, the basics of sports sciences and the organization of sports, anthropomotorics and biomechanics. Applied biological disciplines such as functional anatomy, human physiology and load, biochemistry, sports medicine, first aid, nutrition in sports, regeneration in sports, doping in sports, basics of sports science and sports organization, methodology of final theses.  

    In the study program sport for health in the bachelor's and master's degree, the core of the study program is compulsory subjects in the sport field of study: basics of pedagogy, somatology, sports physiology, anthropomotorics, kinesiology, sports medicine, diagnostics in sports, diagnostics of functional disorders, education for a healthy lifestyle, nutrition and dietary strategies for health, first aid, hygiene in sports, biomechanics and applied biomechanics, prevention of civilization diseases, functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system, instructor-methodical practice, ongoing and continuous practice in the communal sphere. 

    In the study program of special physical training in security forces, special disciplines such as somatology, organization and management of sports, biomechanics, first aid and anthropomotorics form the core of study program. 

    Within the mentioned study programs, the teachers of the department participate in the provision of obligatory elective subjects in other departments of the Faculty of Sports. These are mainly practical subjects and specializations, e.g. fitness, swimming, skiing, gymnastics, athletics, etc. 

    In the third stage of university studies, in the study field of sports science, in the sports educology study program, the members of the department teach following subjects: methodology of sports sciences, dissertation project, system of sports sciences, informatics and scientific databases, diagnostics in sports, mathematical-statistical methods, kinesiology and pathokinesiology, peculiarities of sports for the physically impaired. 

   The department ensures the educational process (general physical education) for all students of PU in Prešov. A condition for granting credit is active participation in the university volleyball league or the PU football minileague in Prešov.
