THE CENTRE OF COMPETENCES AND LIFELONG LEARNING of the University of Presov (CCKV PU) was established based on the decision of the Academic Senate of the UP, which approved the proposal for its establishment at its meeting on October 9, 2006 and became valid and effective on October 10, 2006.

The mission of the CCKV PU is the preparation, organisation, and provision of activities within the framework of continuing education, with a focus on supplementing, expanding, and deepening the acquired knowledge, or retraining, through appropriately chosen methods, organisational forms, didactic principles, with the use of the latest material didactic aids and ICT, mainly from humanities and natural science areas and fields of study.

The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning of the University of Presov is a founding member of the Slovak Academic Association for Lifelong Learning, whose mission is to bring together institutions and persons dealing with continuing education at universities in Slovakia, to promote their common interests, to support its development, financing, implementation, research by coordinating and representing members in Slovakia and abroad. The Slovak Academic Association for Lifelong Learning was established during the meetings of the directors of the Centres of Continuing Education of Slovak universities on February 3 – 4, 2011 at the Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning of the UP.

The Centre of Competences and Lifelong Learning is a member of the European University Continuing Education Network (EUCEN). It is also a member of the European Children's Universities Network.

The European Children's Universities Network is a member of the Association of Universities of the Third Age in Slovakia (ASUTV).

CCKV is a member of all relevant professional and interest associations in Slovakia and abroad. It is an accepted partner in lifelong learning projects.
