Institute of Slovak and Media Studies conducts research in the fields of general linguistics, phonetics, Slovak language, literary theory, literary history, literary criticism (with emphasis on Slovak literature) and media studies and cultural studies. More specific areas of our research interests include:
1. linguistics:
- general-linguistic, communication, semiotic and contrastive analysis of the speech signal
- computer methods for speech recognition (identification and authentication) and recognition of speaker
- communication status of the Slovak language’s sound phenomena

- valence and morphemic structure of lexical units
