History

Institute of Slovak and Media Studies (ISMS) was founded in 2006, based on more than 50 years tradition of Department of Slovak Language and Literature in Prešov. Educational, scientific and artistic activities of our institute goes beyond the regional and national scope.

Our research is based especially in the fields of general linguistics, phonetics, Slovak language, literary theory, literary history, literary criticism (with emphasis on Slovak literature) and media studies and cultural studies.

We currently offer study in four bachelor’s, four master’s and two doctoral degree strudy programmes.
