EURAXESS: PhD STUDENTS EXPLORED THEIR CAREER VISIONS

Part of doctoral studies involves developing self-awareness—recognizing one’s own strengths and weaknesses and the ability to present one’s achievements. To support these skills, the Euraxess PU Centre organized a career event for doctoral students on April 16, 2026.

The program opened with a presentation by regional coordinator Ing. Kristína Šoltýsová from SAIA, who introduced the current opportunities for mobility scholarship programs available under the ongoing call. Subsequent activities offered participants practical tips for creating both academic and professional résumés, while also introducing the ResearchComp tool, which helps identify strengths and guide career development in line with individual preferences. Doctoral students had the opportunity to exchange experiences with one another, particularly in areas where they wish to improve in the near future; they were given space for networking and planning further sharing of experiences regarding progress in implementing specific steps toward their goals.

The program also included a discussion facilitated by Janka Kotullová from SAIA, featuring invited university researchers: Associate Dean for External Relations, Development, and Quality Assessment doc. Ing. Lenka Bobuľská, PhD; RNDr. Radoslav Smoľák, PhD; Mgr. Ivana Trellová, PhD; BCBA, and Mgr. Vladimír Fedorko, PhD. The panellists shared their experiences from doctoral studies and research, explained the process of writing scientific articles, and emphasized the importance of building international contacts within the research field. Questions also focused on developing the skills needed to handle challenging situations and maintain motivation in achieving the goals that doctoral students set for themselves.

The event was financially supported by the Ministry of Education, Research, Development, and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
