A comprehensive introduction to the world of translation and interpreting. The programme combines a linguistic foundation with systematic training in translation, interpreting, and modern technologies, enabling graduates to work precisely, ethically, and efficiently in real communication situations.
About the Programme
The programme is structured from the linguistic system of Slovak (pronunciation, grammar, lexis, style) through translation and interpreting theories and methods to direct application in practice. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, language culture, professional ethics, and competent work with CAT tools. Graduates understand texts of various genres and are prepared for professional communication and teamwork.
What You Will Learn
- Linguistic foundations basics of linguistics, phonetics, orthoepy, morphology, syntax, lexicology, and stylistics; exercises in orthoepy, orthography, and rhetoric.
- Translation and interpreting translation theory, introduction to translatology, history of translation and interpreting; practical translation (including legal and specialized language), training in consecutive and simultaneous interpreting.
- Technology and practice computer-assisted translation (CAT, e.g. memoQ), practical informatics; touch typing SK/EN for speed and accuracy.
- Interdisciplinary scope basics of state and legal theory, fundamentals of economics; classical languages and literary theory; participation in a student scientific and artistic conference.

Technology in Translation
During the programme, systematic work is carried out with computer-assisted translation (CAT) tools, terminology databases, and corpus-based methods are welcomed. The goal is to master professional-level methodology for preparation, translation, revision, and project delivery.

Admissions Information
This programme must be combined with the two of the following languages: English, French, German, Russian, Ukrainian, Slovak.
This programme is conducted entirely in Slovak. Applicants must provide proof of Slovak language proficiency (any recognized certificate is accepted, including Slovak Maturita).
