Abstract
The inner spiritual turmoil in the Church were simply an inevitable consequence of the acquisition of external circumstances, and also objective of freedom of Christianity in the Roman Empire in the early 4th century. Christianity is now found in a much better position. How did this new situation affect the daily life of the Church? That is somewhat find the answer through a careful reading of the canons of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea (325) and examining them. These canons or rules are a reflection of the time and the circumstances in which they are incurred, but also a reflection of the inherited condition, or ecclesiastical order of the previous centuries. In the short analysis of these rules someone shall see how ancient practice of complying with the new circumstances, and how, on the other hand, a new phenomenon in the Church governing the “old ways”, i.e. the traditional faith and order.
