doc. Mgr. Lukáš Švaňa, PhD.

- associate professor for the specialization 2.1.5 Ethics

In the years 2004-2009 he obtained his master‘s degree in the field of Ethics - English language and literature at the University of Prešov (Faculty of Arts).  In 2011-2015 he studied as a PhD. candidate in specialization 2.1.5. Ethics.

He received his PhD in ethics in 2015. as his Doc. (docent / readership) in 2022 at the Institute of ethics and bioethics (Faculty of Arts), University of Presov in Presov 
 
Currently, he holds the position of a senior assistant and has been teaching the following courses: Contemporary ethical theories, Introduction to law, Classical utilitarianism of 18th and 19th century, The future of civilization. In his research, he focuses on ethical an moral aspects of violence in the forms of war and terrorism and their justifiability. In 2015 he defended his dissertation thesis Terrorism as a form of just war? Among his most influential works are: Crisis of democracy, security and terrorism (2012), Military ethics - goals, perspectives and new paradigms towards humanity (2013) alebo Etická reflexia používania bezpilotných lietadiel na vojenské účely (2014) or Ethical reflection of using drones for military purposes (2014).

He also currently holds the position of an editorial assistant for the scientific journal Ethics & Bioethics published by the UNESCO Chair in Bioethics.
