UNESCO Chair in Bioethics (Faculty of Arts, University of Prešov in Prešov) was addressed by the UNESCO headquarters in Paris and Slovak Commission for UNESCO to organize in Slovakia UNESCO Philosophy Day/ Night. It is held on the occasion of the World Philosophy Day, which UNESCO commemorates on the third Thursday of November, since 2005.

Main aim of such events is to emphasize and honor the merits of philosophy in all fields of human thinking. The basic concept is based on the organization of public lectures, textual seminars and workshops  with main aim to bring the philosophy closer to public and to increase the awareness of philosophy and its place and role in the contemporary culture.
