DramaFest 2013
Dramatický festival v anglickom jazyku

AFTER the DRAMAFEST 2013
On the 29th of April 2013, the sixth year of an annual drama festival DRAMAFEST 2013
took place in the Theatre of Alexander Duchnovič. For three years it has been part of Academic Prešov 2013. It was organised by doc. Zuzana Straková, PhD and the 2nd year students of the Institute of British and American Studies. Dramafest 2013 proved the importance of supporting artistic skills in children.
Students of elementary and secondary schools from the Prešov and Košice regions performed ten thoroughly prepared theatrical plays in English. Not only could we see versions of well-known fairy tales and stories such as Snow White, Christmas Carol or Three Little Peas, but also some serious social issues were brought to light – bullying, the influence of TV and reality shows e.g.
„We have been practising the play since September 2012 “, said students from the Konštantínova Gymnazium, Prešov. They took part in the festival for the second time and they enjoyed it as much as they did last year.
One of the judges, a former English teacher Mrs Lukáčová, believes that Dramafest has besides its artistic value a huge significance in enhancing the English language: „When we started to teach English many years ago, it was something new at that time. It pleases me to see that kids in these days understand its importance and continue our legacy in such an exquisite way.“
