INFORMATION on STUDENTS’ SCIENTIFIC and ARTISTIC CONFERENCE 2015

Students’ Scientific and Artistic Conference will be held under the auspices of
prof. PhDr. Vasil Gluchman, CSc., the Dean of the Faculty of Arts.

The conference is organised for the students of Faculty of Arts, Prešov. University.
It has a non-competitive, but selective character.

Aim of the Conference: an opportunity to present   results of scientific research and artistic abilities of the students of:

• bachelor’s study
• magister’s study
• PhD study

The conference is held in two successive events:

1. institute conference
2. faculty round

The most successful participants of institute rounds will participate in the faculty round.

The Institute of British and American Studies Conference will be held on

25th March 2014

at 8.00 in the room 249


The Faculty of Arts Conference  will be held on 29th April 2014.

Forms of presentation

1. standard conference performance
2. poster presentation (posters will be included in sections according to the individual topics
3. artistic presentation.

Here is some advice how to write conference papers and information on what will be assessed.

Student’s research results have to be supported by corresponding theoretical background. The practical part of the paper has to express author's opinion on the topic investigated. The paper is expected to be a logical unit.

The form and content of the conference paper are to meet the following requirements:

1. Content requirements

• clear statement of the main idea of the paper
• logical justification of the topic
• creativity and own contribution
• comprehensibility and clarity of the presented topic (the current state of topic  research, the description of  research, the research results)
• justification of research methods
• justification of all supporting techniques and means (questionnaires, inquiries, graphs, etc.)
• developing the main idea.

2. Formal requirements

The structure of the conference paper:

1. introduction: it shall introduce the topic and contain a hypothesis;
2. main part: contains information and arguments that support the main idea; it shall be logical and clear, divided into paragraphs. The introductor sentence of each paragraph is to be supporting and all-inclusive; it should bring a reader into the issue developed in the paragraph. The transition from one paragraph to another  one shall be clear and logical.
3. conclusion: accuracy and completeness of the presentation of research results confirmation or refutation of the hypothesis.

1.  accuracy
2.  propriety
3.  structure of sentences
4.  grammar, spelling
5.  redundancy of information

4. Length: the paper shall have at least 10 standard pages (1 standard page has 1800 characters).

5. Accuracy of quoting:  the conference paper requirements are identical with bachelor’s and magister’s thesis requirements   (according to Katuščák). The form of  title page is to be identical with the title page of magister’s thesis.

11. študentská vedecká konfrencia

pod záštitou prof. PhDr. Vasila Gluchmana, CSc., dekana fakulty.

Konferencia je určenáštudentom Filozofickej fakulty Prešovskej univerzity v Prešove. Má nesúťažný, avšak výberový charakter.

Cieľ konferencie: možnosť prezentácie vedeckovýskumných aktivít pre študentov:

·      nekončiacich ročníkov;

·      končiacich ročníkov s výsledkami záverečných prác;

·      doktorandského štúdia (v dennej aj externej forme).

Tematická náplň konferencie vzhľadom na variabilitu ponúkaných študijných programov nie je stanovená.

Konferencia sa koná dvojkolovo: 1) inštitútové kolo; 2) fakultné kolo. Nevyhnutným predpokladom účasti na fakultnom kole je absolvovanie inštitútového kola.

Formy prezentácie na fakultnom kole

a) klasické vystúpenie na konferencii;

b) posterová prezentácia (postery budú zaradené do sekcií podľa tematického zamerania);

c) umelecká prezentácia.

Presnejšie informácie o fakultnom kole sa dozvedia vybratí účastníci po sumarizácii výsledkov inštitútových kôl.
