On September 17, 2019, at the opening of the academic year, the University of Prešov in Prešov appreciated the creative academic staff and students.

The opening of the academic year is traditionally associated with the celebration, which takes place in the premises of the Jonáš Záborský Theatre in the presence of guests from home and abroad. The main theme of the whole event was the ceremonial inauguration of the university management and newly elected deans, as well as awarding the creative academic staff and students. An integral part of the opening of the academic year was also awarding the Rector's Award.

Doc. Ing. Jaroslava Hečková and doc. Ing. Alexandra Chapčáková, PhD were on this occasion awarded the Rector's Award for the year 2018, for a significant contribution to science.
