Editorial - Acta Patristica, volume 12, issue 24/2021

Dear colleagues.

In the latest issue, we again offer interesting scientific studies from various areas of the humanities. The first study is a look at Byzantine thinking in cosmology, which differs from the ancient worldview and gives an opportunity to understand the real relationship between philosophy and theology in the Byzantine period. The following study presents a historical description of the seals and coats of arms of bishops based in Mukachevo (Ukraine). The author describes against the historical background the personalities of the bishops and their insignia in the 17th - 20th century. The author of the third article loosely follows up on the topic of characterizing the difficult process and attempts to democratize society against the background of the renewal of the ecclesial community in the Transcarpathian region of Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century. Based on archival documents from various countries, the policy of the then state authorities towards the Orthodox movement is shown. The following study looks at education in the period in response to the Reformation. Anti-Reformation (re-Catholicization) education was usually based on the Jesuit study regulations of 1599, which introduced a system of education to the last detail, where the most important role was played by the Jesuit order - the Society of Jesus, founded by Ignatius of Loyola. The aim of the co-authors of the next article is to present the theological heritage of St. Symeon the New Theologian (949 - 1022) and to draw a hitherto known picture of existing editions and translations of his work in general constructions. The study analyzes the theological heritage of St. Symeon the New Theologian and also represents the spiritual legacy of this important ecclesiastical mystic. The sixth article is devoted to one of the most important characteristics of a social worker - empathy. Social work and those who engage in it are an absolute necessity today, which is why the author deals with the ability of a social worker to understand the client, without which adequate interpersonal help is not possible. The penultimate article deals with the theological field, more precisely the relationship between Christian dogmas and rules, which are not just a set of definitions, but together form a living organism. Finally, the last article characterizes one of the important ecclesiastical holidays liturgically and patristically. The author tries to point out the constant liveliness of the content of the holiday in today's life. Finally, we present a review of a new publication, which is a description of the author's travels and spiritual experiences on the Holy Mount Athos.

We believe that individual studies will enrich your knowledge in the areas of scientific research involved.
