Editorial - Acta Patristica, volume 11, issue 23/2020

Dear colleagues.

In the latest issue, we present a series of diverse scientific studies from several areas of the humanities. The first study describes the history of Bulgarian manuscripts, which are the historical heritage of the Suprasl Monastery. The text is an excellent example of a topic that the author has been dealing with for a long time in his professional life. The second study remains on the topic of history, but moves to another environment and discusses the political-social and religious-cultural topics of the history of Central Europe, specifically the relationship between Orthodoxy and Catholicism from the perspective of Latin sources. The third article falls into the field of linguistics and the author gives a definition of the incorporation of words, usually used in Orthodoxy, and their historical translation into the Czech language. The following study opens a philosophical-religious discussion of the ideals of perfect life and society in the works of selected authors and their confrontation with the biblical message. The fifth article describes the history of the establishment of the Patriarchate in Pec, which is experiencing the 100th anniversary of its existence this year. The following study is an insight into the capture of religious themes and scenes in art painting and sculpture. The author touches on mutual influence in the thinking of selected artists and their works and confrontation with the ideas of church teaching. The sixth topic remains more or less close to the topic of culture, because it deals with the practice of confession and its potential impact on the cultural development and thinking of the nation. The author of the next article deals with the issue of incorporating iconography into the system of practical teaching in the study of theology, but with the possibility of using its content in other humanities-oriented scientific disciplines. The last study is focused exclusively on theology and in it, the author follows the challenging topic of the development of triadology through the ideas of St. Basil the Great.

Finally, we bring two reviews of new publications. One deals with the published proceedings of a conference on the history of Christianity in Egypt and the other review describes a monograph in which the authors deal with project management in the academic environment.

We believe that individual studies will enrich your knowledge in the areas of scientific research involved.
