Editorial - Acta Patristica, volume 11, issue 22/2020

Dear colleagues.

We present you again the new issue of Acta Patristica. Despite this year's circumstances, which have affected global society and affected the lives of billions of people in their personal and professional spheres, we do not stop working and learning. The sad events show us two sides - loss of life, economic and cultural-social crises, but also the upliftment of the spirit of humanity, when humanity, knocked to its knees in the dust of the earth, fished for the best of its own - solidarity and mutual recognition shown by the courage to fight and selflessly helping each other. History constantly reminds us that only in times of decline is the company able to fight for its survival after suffering. In the shadow of these events, we also see a shared commitment to combating any differences between people, with many calling for the elimination of any manifestations of racial and other intolerance. The contributions in this issue of the journal provide an insight into historical, social, cultural or theological areas that more or less point to a common indicator of human crises in history - freedom without responsibility. The spiritual value of freedom, which stems from human knowledge of the most serious question in the history of man, points out that man is a being who cannot exist without communion. In this freedom, he finds his responsibility not only for himself but also for the well-being of others. The meaning of humanity thus becomes a common good, which can be achieved only after removing all the differences that we have made in history. From the patristic-theological point of view, freedom is gained only in full communion with God, in which prejudices are lost and started limitless and perfect love. A small example with hope is nature, which took advantage of a brief moment when a man stayed inside his house and repaired the wounds that man caused to it with his recklessness.

We believe that the new contributions will offer you a broader view of the individual areas of your interest.
