Abstract

Sumerian civilization, its origins, culture and retreat, belong to one of the most interesting and mysterious areas of archaeological scientific research. Sumerology and archaeological research in the southern part of Mesopotamia, associated with Sumeria, is relatively young in development. The cuneiform itself was, from a science perspective, more-less randomized in the 17th to 19th centuries. So far, the latest discovery of contemporary archaeological research is the discovery of the Sumerian town, approximately 33 kilometres from Erida, which until now has been considered the southernmost city of Sumer. In this article we are focusing on the historical description of Sumerians, with some emphasis on Sumerian literature and cosmology, which is contained in mythology.

SUMMARY

Sumerians gradually created an entire system of cosmological ideas about the origin of all, but not to touch the issues dealt with by civilization and culture after them, such as the ancient Hellenes, who through Platonism. They considered the trends outside the boundaries and the limitations of individual physical laws and phenomena. Nevertheless, we see the similarity in the expression between the Sumerians and other civilizations, the nations that have gradually sought to establish a rightful place in this area, including the Hebrews of the Old Testament. One of the similarities with the biblical text of creation is Sumerian expression of the way everything was created. This is the first created theory that has spread throughout the Middle East. Sumerians believed in the creative power of the divine word. Individual deities have realized their specific intentions by realizing the word and name, naming.
